For over 50 years, Harper Heritage® has been dedicated to creating high-quality, comfortable clothing with timeless style and value. Our heritage began in 1967 when founders John and Mary Harper opened their first clothing shop in their small hometown. Frustrated by the lack of affordable, well-made basics, the couple began designing and manufacturing their own line of clothing.
Word quickly spread about the Harpers’ attention to detail, commitment to craftsmanship, and focus on lasting value. Their cozy cable knit sweaters, durable denim jeans, and versatile dresses filled a need in the market. Within a few years, the Harpers were supplying their quality apparel to stores across the country.
Our Commitment to Quality

At Harper Heritage, we are committed to designing clothing that stands the test of time. Every piece is crafted to the highest standards using premium fabrics and artisan details. Our clothing is designed to be lived in and loved for years to come.
We source our fabrics carefully, selecting only durable, natural fibers including organic cotton denim, soft wool knits, and luxe Italian leather. Our jeans are made from rigid selvedge denim, woven on vintage shuttle looms for superior strength. The denim is dyed to a rich indigo hue that fades beautifully over time. Our classic five-pocket jeans are constructed using traditional techniques like chainstitched hems, bar tacks, and antique rivets.
Our cable knit sweaters are loomed from pure merino wool or soft cotton yarns. The intricate cable patterns are engineered to retain their structure wear after wear. Our sweaters feature ribbed hems and cuffs, fully fashioned construction, and buttons made from sustainably sourced corozo nuts.
Our dresses, shirts, and blouses are cut from natural fibers like linen, silk, and cotton. We source vintage-inspired prints and lush solid fabrics. Garments are sewn using finishes like french seams and double needle stitching for durability. Customers love our attention to detail, like pearly snaps, colorful contrast stitching, and custom fabric buttons.
Ethical, Sustainable Production
From the start, the Harpers were committed to ethical, sustainable practices. We treat employees, vendors, and partners as family. Today, our dedicated production team in America continues to manufacture our clothing in small batches, taking pride in their work.
We partner with farms, mills, and suppliers that share our values around sustainability and transparency. Our wool comes from sheep ranchers practicing regenerative agriculture. Our cotton is organic, traced from farm to finished garment. We use low-impact dyes and work closely with mills to reduce water, chemical, and energy usage.
We strive to reduce waste through thoughtful product design and manufacturing. Scraps are recycled, fabrics are woven to order, and zero waste pattern making is utilized. Our clothing is crafted to last, reducing the need for disposable fast fashion. When pieces reach the end of their lifecycle, we encourage recycling and upcycling.
A Timeless Sense of Style

The Harper Heritage aesthetic celebrates simplicity, comfort, and wearability. Our versatile essentials pair seamlessly with trendier statement pieces, forming the basis of many wardrobes. Our clothing transitions effortlessly from day to night, weekday to weekend.
We take inspiration from workwear, vintage Americana, folk art, and the natural beauty of our Northern California surroundings. Our color palette features hues harvested from the landscape like indigo, amber, moss, and terracotta.
Garments are designed with relaxed, flattering lines that move beautifully with the body. Our jeans have an easy straight leg silhouette, lightweight feel, and just-right rise. Our dresses skim the figure with subtly defined waistlines and flowy skirts.
We help curate easy, go-to outfits by designing pieces that work back seamlessly to our core basics. Our sweaters, shirts, and jackets pair perfectly with our jeans and dresses. Outfits come together intuitively, letting the wearer’s unique style shine through.
A Family Business
Behind our brand you’ll still find the Harper family, committed as ever to producing quality clothing with integrity. While our company has grown over the decades, we remain grounded in our heritage.
John and Mary’s children and grandchildren are involved in the business, bringing fresh perspective to the brand. Family values around craftsmanship, sustainability, and service continue to guide our work. We take pride in being a small, tight-knit company where employees are considered part of the Harper family.
We maintain our headquarters in our original hometown, forging lasting ties with the local community. Our historic brick factory houses our design studios and small batch production facilities. We take pride in manufacturing our clothing locally and providing stable jobs with benefits.
